Music | Fridays at 2:20pm
January 9 to June 19
Please note: there will be no lessons March 20th (consider signing up for our March Break Camp!) or April 3rd.
Our Music class helps children build an understanding of rhythm, pattern, and musical structure through hands-on, accessible activities. Students explore music without the need for formal instruments, using body percussion, simple tools, and collaborative exercises that make learning joyful and meaningful.
Primary Learners
Younger learners explore beat, tempo, and dynamics through playful musical experiences. They use body percussion, rhythm sticks, scarves, and simple pattern work to learn how to listen carefully, move in time, and express musical ideas in a natural, engaging way.
Junior Learners
Older learners begin reading and writing basic musical notation, identifying rhythm values and note symbols, and working collaboratively to compose short rhythmic pieces. They develop an understanding of how music is organized and how rhythm and sound can communicate ideas and emotion.
Each class includes:
Rhythm and pattern exploration
Beat and tempo activities
Body percussion and simple instruments
Listening, movement, and musical response
Creative composition opportunities
A calm, supportive environment that honours all levels of experience
This class helps children develop confidence, coordination, and expressive skills while building a foundational understanding of how music works.
