Social Studies | Thursdays at 2:20pm
January 8 to June 18
Our Social Studies class helps children understand how people live, work, and connect with one another, both past and present. Through stories, geography, hands-on projects, and thoughtful discussion, students explore communities, cultures, and the world around them in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
Primary Learners
Younger learners build understanding of community and culture by studying families, neighbourhoods, maps, and traditions. They learn about helping roles, citizenship, and how people work together to make a difference.
Junior Learners
Older learners examine history, geography, and civics in greater depth, investigating how events, choices, and systems shape communities. Lessons may include map work, research projects, timelines, and discussions that develop critical thinking and perspective-taking.
Each class includes:
Stories, maps, and guided discussions
Hands-on projects connected to real communities
Exploration of culture, citizenship, and geography
Opportunities to collaborate and share ideas
This class helps children see themselves as thoughtful members of their community while developing the skills to understand people, places, and events from multiple perspectives.
